As a summer project we were asked to produce ten small-sclae pieces on the theme of 'Holding On: Letting Go'. My approach towards the theme was related to people's lives, emotions, memories and experiences. The media I decided to use was mostly photography wherein I gathered several images and post-processed them to create interesting imagery with an abstract feel.
I used a combination of layers and multiple photographs to achieve various effects. This was the main process involved when I produced this project. And through it, I was able to transform ordinary things into more meaningful and suggestive pieces.
Each individual piece could be interpreted in various ways. Some of them may be narrative, surreal, simple, beautiful, dark, etc. But what I like the most about them is that, although the viewers have that freedom, the images still have the ability to showcase or at least lead the audience to see and understand the message/s that I wanted to convey.
All images were taken by Moira Parton, 2011.
